Resolving, 2012

Last year I made a couple of resolutions. I kept a log of all my reading and movie-watching - something I’ve done before in various ways - but this was just an easy-to-refer to word document. The other was to write more. I haven’t been great about the writing, but I have tumbled pretty prolifically, which is something.

1 – Write something (even something short) about every movie I see.
2 – See more movies, particularly new movies. Modest goal: 150.
3 – Stop hate reading. No, stop. No, seriously. Stop. Just stop.
4 – Post on Pop Culture and Feelings at least once a month.
5 – Get back to gym (when ankle allows).
6 – Start doing serious research again.
7 – Eat more vegetables.
8 – Read more, generally. Read more theory and criticism, specifically.
9 – Maintain movie/book list. Add a TV log.

2011 was a year. Lots of great things happened, but lots of horrible stuff happened. The whole world constantly seems poised to actually completely fall apart. I’ve stressed a lot, I very badly sprained my ankle (still can’t walk long distances without pain!), I made new friends, I drank a lot , I did some cool travelling, I read some good books. If I haven’t done all the writing and achieving that I wanted to, I’ve had a good year socially and really gotten better at meeting new people.

Big things are going to happen in 2012! I’m moving back to Canada in just over a month, and then I’m hopefully going to find a job I like, and bake my own bread, and generally get my shit together, and complain every day about how you can’t get beer in the grocery store.
